Easter weddings are becoming more and more popular. We have 3 in the month of April. Perhaps it’s because the venues are that little bit cheaper than they are in the summer; or that the weather is likely to be pretty much the same – but we’re not complaining. Congratulations to all the couples that are getting married and choosing Disco Sussex to provide their disco. Photos will be up as and when the weddings happen.

So the summer period is officially over, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. September saw a few parties including a 40th Birthday party and a wedding for Sarah and Phil Candy. Both very successful evenings with happy clients at the end
Coming up we have lots of discos including a ‘school disco’ themed evening.

We are half way through August and the discos just keep coming! We have taken new bookings for weddings including many for next summer, which is very exciting.

Just as the village fétes all end the sun comes back out. Typical! We have had a very busy couple of weeks – I feel like I haven’t sat down.

We spent last week working more at Hurst College for Manor Courses doing all of their discos – hundreds of teenagers! On Saturday we provided the disco for Tylie and Craig’s wedding over at an absolutely stunning venue – Great Ote Hall in Wivelsfield. We are working on Venue Pages at the moment and this one will certainly feature prominentely! It is in a marquee outside a c.1600 hall in beautiful grounds. The weather was perfect for the occasion too. You can see Tylie’s testimonial on the testimonial page.

I hope everyone is loving this weather, I’ve just been on a run in training for my half marathon and pretty much died in the heat.

Crazy Requests

The guys over at the National Association of Disc Jockeys were talking earlier today about strange enquiries, and how one of their members “was informed by the Groom that he was getting married in Italy, but he wanted to know if the DJ would fill his ipod with music so that they would have several hours of music to play while abroad, but they did not want a DJ.”

Obviously big copyright issues here, but this got me thinking about some of the crazy requests I have had for DJing. I think the worst is about 2 years ago, someone from a local town rung and asked if I was free to DJ in a field. The venue would be set on the day of the event… Needless to say I declined!

There have been some odd music requests too – YMCA I can deal with, but someone asking for Chopin half way through a wedding, while everyone was dancing was very odd…

For the next 6 weeks I am doing a lot of discos over at Hurst College for Manor Courses LTD – basically DJing for lots of young people from all over Europe and further afield. Strange requests are plenty – I’ve resorted to a big pad of paper and a pen for them to be written on. This week we are working very hard!

We have our first disco for Manor Courses Limited, at Hurst College. This is the third year we have worked with MC to provide mobile discos twice a week as well as sound/lighting for all of their other events.

This weekend, both Greg and Oli are working at two separate village days. Oli will be handling Balcombe Village Day, providing a sound system for the day as well as the mobile disco in the evening. Greg will be working at Bolney Village Day, doing similar.

The following week is equally as busy – it looks like it’s going to be a mad summer!

Summer!

Well summer is here! Another lovely hot day outside my window. The new website has now been launched and already quote requests are rolling in. I’d love to hear any feedback you have about it, just comment on this post or drop me an email: oli[at]hweuk.co.uk

The summer is looking pretty busy. This weekend we have a 21st Birthday party over near Cowfold, W Sussex. The following weekend is a 40th birthday party. Following that I am DJing at Bristol University for Will’s Hall – A Midsummer Night’s Ball.

Proms are coming up as well. We are DJing for Burgess Hill School for Girls and Lingfield Notre Dame schools.

As well as the weddings and parties we are DJing for Manor Courses – 15 discos over at Hurst College, for the 3rd year running.

I am really looking forward to a completely packed summer!
